Member Nominated Directors

T-Mobile International UK Pension Scheme

Do you want to play an active role in looking after the Scheme and helping make sure the Scheme is well run? Would you like to develop new skills, gain confidence, and contribute to decisions that matter? Applications for MNDs are now open — and this could be your chance to make a real difference.

If you’re curious about the role, read on, and if you’d like to apply, the deadline is 15 May 2026. If you have any questions, you can contact the Scheme Secretary at eleanor.garside@isio.com.

The T-Mobile International UK Pension Scheme is governed by a Trustee Board made up of five Trustee Directors. Their role is to ensure the Scheme is well managed and members’ benefits remain secure.

Two of the five Trustee Directors are MNDs and the other three are nominated by Deutsche Telekom (UK) Limited. The current five year terms of the existing MNDs are coming to an end, and we’re now looking for members to put themselves forward for two MND positions.

To provide stability and continuity on the Trustee Board, we will be staggering future selection processes. So, for this process we will be looking for one person to serve a three-year term and one person to serve a five-year term.

What could you gain from the role?

Being an MND is a unique and rewarding opportunity. Some of the many things you could gain are:

  • Make a meaningful contribution to the Scheme and its members
  • Build new skills that can enhance your professional development
  • Learn about pensions, governance, investment, finance, and communication
  • Challenge yourself, broaden your perspective, and try something completely new

Best of all, you’ll have the chance to look after your Scheme and the interests of all members.

Who can be an MND?

You can serve as an MND if you’re a pensioner, deferred, or current employee of Deutsche Telekom (UK) Limited and a member of the Scheme.

You might think that you’re not the sort of person who could be an MND, but we’re keen to receive applications from any interested members.

We see the value in fresh perspectives and new experiences, and the benefits of bringing diversity to the Board, as it’s important that Trustee Directors can relate to our members and their personal circumstances.

You will need:

  • An eagerness to learn
  • A willingness to commit some time to the role
  • An appetite for a challenge.

You won’t need:

  • Detailed pensions knowledge. You’ll be supported to learn everything you need if your application is successful.

What does the role involve?

As an MND, you will be a Director of the Trustee company and will work alongside the other Trustee Directors. This role carries legal duties and responsibilities, so it is important that you are comfortable acting in this capacity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Help ensure the Scheme is administered in line with its Trust Deed and Rules
  • Make sure benefits are paid to members accurately and on time
  • Contribute to decisions about how the Scheme’s assets are invested
  • Act impartially and in members’ best interests
  • Work with advisers where specialist expertise is required
  • Ensure Scheme finances and processes are properly recorded
  • Ensure that the Scheme complies with the requirements of the Pension Regulator’s General Code of Practice and relevant legislation
  • Gain knowledge of pensions law, funding, and investment principles

How much time will it take?

Commitments include:

  • Around 4 full Trustee meetings per year (approx. 6 hours each), typically held in person in London
  • Additional shorter sub committee meetings, usually held virtually
  • Time outside meetings to consider Trustee matters, prepare for meetings, read papers, and undertake training

Training and support

Full training and support will be provided. You’ll receive support from fellow Trustee Directors, professional advisers, and The Pensions Regulator (TPR).

You’ll also be required to complete the TPR’s online Trustee Toolkit. Ongoing knowledge and development sessions will be available.
