Contributions

We are responsible for paying the amount required to provide benefits promised by the DB Section of the Scheme and its administration costs (after allowance is made for member’s contributions).

You don’t pay any contributions to the Scheme, but instead agree to reduce your salary by an amount equal to the pension contributions you’d otherwise pay to the Scheme (called Salary Sacrifice).  Contributing to your pension in this way is beneficial to both you and the Company from a tax and National Insurance (NI) contributions perspective.  This reduction in salary doesn’t affect your pension or death-in-service entitlements from the Scheme, or any other benefits (such as pay increases or bonus) you may be entitled to from the Company – these remain based on your pre-sacrificed salary.

Currently the percentage of salary sacrificed is 4.8% of Pensionable Salary.
