What if you're away from work?

Your pensionable service will continue as normal, and you’ll ‘sacrifice’ salary based on the pay (if any) you’re receiving.
 
If you’re away from work on another period of paid family leave, you’ll normally be entitled to benefits for that period based on the pay (if any) you receive.
 
If you don’t receive pay, you won’t normally be entitled to any benefits during that period. However, if you return to work afterwards, the two periods either side will be treated as continuous (excluding the break).
